High School needs more counselors

Superintendent Kadri unveiled his plans to hire additional high school counselors and intent to change their responsibilities which would lead to increased student interaction. Right now, the student to counselor ratio is 325:1. The nationally recommended ratio is 250:1.

For any parent with high school students, you already knew that counselor staffing levels were inadequate, and they have been for quite a few years now. Not sure why it hasn’t been brought up until now, but thank you Mr. Kadri for addressing this problem.

Once again Mr. Kadri shows how much he really cares about the students. We are so lucky to have him. I don't know why some of the school board members don't like him. I can only speak as a parent - Mr. Kadri is the best thing to happen in Neshaminy in a very long time.

Too bad Mr. Kadri wasn't here a few years ago when my kids went through the high school. I'm not sure either of them ever met their counselors before graduation night.
I agree with pianomom that we're lucky to have a good superintendent. I haven't heard that some board members don't like him, and it would be a shame if that's true. Maybe he represents change which isn't exactly we do here in Neshaminy.

I absolutely agree that we need more counselors. Why does it take over 1 month for the Neshaminy guidance dept to send out PSAT scores, when other school districts can give them out as soon as they receive them.
We also need counselors that are willing to do their jobs without making you feel like they are doing you a favor, which has been the case every time I've had to deal with the guidance dept.
Lastly, the amount of time that it takes the Neshaminy guidance dept to process college applications is appalling. I've already been through this once and I dread dealing with it again in the fall.

Thank you, Mr. Kadri. When you think about it, most of our problems at Neshaminy including low test scores, behavior and psycholgical problems can be addressed by counselors. This is another good idea by our superintendent.

We need more counselors like a hole in the head!

Mr. Kadri has been an asset to our district from Day 1. He is visible, involved and proactive on behalf of Neshaminy students from the youngest to those ready to graduate. It will be a huge loss on our parts if he takes employment elsewhere.
Our school board should be ashamed of themselves.

To concerned taxpayer, please explain to me how a counselor with over 250 students are to meet with each one. My student never met their counselor until April of the senior year. How sad is that? I agree we need more and someone to manage their time better.
