They can't blame Mr. Kadri for this one since a super should not get involved in contract talks, it is strictly the boards problem to deal with.

I agree with the benefits issue, I pay about $900 / month for the family's medical benefits for less than what are teacher's pay absolutely zip for.
(Editor’s Note – Portions of this comment were edited for content)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4332946972319732703.post-85557028370032045222008-02-25T07:29:00.000-05:002008-02-25T07:29:00.000-05:00My only concern with the teacher contract is that ...My only concern with the teacher contract is that there has been the rumors (ugh) that if they try and strike, work will cease at the high school because the union workers there won't cross picket lines. The teachers who are very pro union are loving that idea. I do agree that the staff needs to pay into the benefits. Hopefully the board is doing their homework to obtain information on what other districts have done in regards to benefits, etc. We can't keep asking our taxpayers to foot their benefits bill when some of them don't have benefits themselves because they can't afford it.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4332946972319732703.post-42447669365256058792008-02-24T17:37:00.000-05:002008-02-24T17:37:00.000-05:00To anonymous #2...Mr. O'Connor stated during his c...To anonymous #2...

Mr. O'Connor stated during his campaign that teachers should pay a percentage of their medical benefits, and I agree! I'm paying 24% of the cost of my medical benefits. That is the average cost MOST people in this country are paying. Guess you can't put Mr. O'Connor in the same category as some of the other board members, since he has a family member that works in the district, yet he is still looking out for the tax payer. I’ve never read anything he sent out or heard him remark that he thought the contract was “pro teacher” as you stated. When I read what was in the last contract, and anyone can, it looks to me like those in charge at the time, (Superintendent and School Board) didn't ask for the teachers to compromise on anything! I hear teachers say all the time that they want to be treated like corporate America. Well, then start paying!!! You can't have it both ways.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4332946972319732703.post-34374711614341248122008-02-24T11:11:00.000-05:002008-02-24T11:11:00.000-05:00I don't believe Bill is anti-teacher, just pro com...I don't believe Bill is anti-teacher, just pro common sense.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4332946972319732703.post-68315937380676630312008-02-23T17:36:00.000-05:002008-02-23T17:36:00.000-05:00Bill may value your experience but you do not want...Bill may value your experience but you do not want him negotiating. One of his platform items was lashing out against the last contract which was pro teacher. Lucky for you he won't be involved anyway because he can't negotiate due to having a family member involved.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4332946972319732703.post-13494702741789932712008-02-23T13:14:00.000-05:002008-02-23T13:14:00.000-05:00This is the first time I've ever heard a board mem...This is the first time I've ever heard a board member express interest in the staff's opinion. Nice to know a board member out there values our experience. Too bad you couldn't be negotiating our contract. At least we can trust your integrity.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
